Please visit this thread for continuing announcements. I will keep this first post in the blog updated with the latest information.
[Update 6/6/07]
YoungCosmos will shortly be split into 3 websites:
We will try our best to preserve the logins and passwords from the current blog when we migrate to the improved blog at YoungCosmosBlog.com.
The weblog you are reading will be accessible the YoungCosmos.com website and directly accessible through the www.YoungCosmosBlog.com URL. The reasoning behind the split was something I envisioned a long time ago:
YoungCosmosBlog.com will be the blog you are reading now, but it will be
substantially improved from today’s blog. It’s main purpose is to keep track of recent developments.
www.YoungCosmosDiscussion.com is a discussion forum where participants can conduct discussion of topics of interest to them. They will also have the ability to moderate their own discussions!
YoungCosmos.com will be a general portal to every thing else. It will have lots of links and educational resources including YoungCosmosBlog.com and YoungCosmosDiscussion.com
Please visit YoungCosmosBlog.com fand let us know what changes you would like. Please, for you own sake, DO NOT POST THERE since it is merely a test site and what you write will be forever lost into the great bit bucket in the sky whenever we make upgrades (which be almost daily).
However, I welcome your feedback on the new site. We have set up a discussion forum where more orderly discussion on the website can be discussed. Visit
Young Cosmos Feedback and Web Development Forum
Thanks to everyone who has been a part of our weblog since it began February 17, 2007. I had a vision for a www.YoungCosmos.com website for over two years. It’s main function was to be a portal for information, resources, collaboration, networking, and discussion. It was intended to follow the architecture of www.ARN.org
What precisely will the content on this page be? Something that of a link portal? Would be nice if you would also include the search engine from baraminology.blogspot.com as well… If it is a link portal, will you have a AiG answers page like but for links instead? Just wondering but I can wait and see how this works out. How long will this transition take btw? I like the look for the blog but you may want to increase the brightness of the text color for those who can’t read as well. For me, the text isn’t hard to read at all but maybe it’s different for the older folks. Overall the blog design is pretty cool. Hopefully people will join the discussion because as far as I know, there aren’t many creationist forums if not any at all. Thank you for the effort that you’ve put into this! This blog is very informative.
I tried the other day to register at the proboards site, where the discussions are taking place, but I never received the password via email. I just tried again this evening to get it to send me my password, and I even tried setting up a new account (in case I had somehow messed up my email address the first time). No luck. Which means, of course, that for now I’m unable to participate in discussion over there. (The two usernames I registered are Rick and RickT.)
Salvador: Since you already have the three domains, this suggestion may be a day late and a dollar short, as it were. However, why not make the three sites:
In other words, you could have them all on the same domain but give each its own subdomain. This is easy to set up, and I think it makes more sense organizationally. Since you already have the other two domains, you could simply redirect them to the respective subdomains of youngcosmos.com.
My two-cents’ worth.
As for the forum/discussion site, I’ve seen the comments there and intend to install a forum on the server where the blog will live.

Rick,
It may be the e-mail is stuck in your junk mail filter somewhere.
Salvador
A very valid suggestion; however, I don’t believe that’s the case here. I do have a Junk folder; however, the password info hasn’t come to that, either. (I tend to feel as though I get lots of spam; however, I’m fortunate in that I don’t get so much that it’s impossible to go through if I know I’m looking for something.)
I may try registering another username at a different address.
Meanwhile, I’m getting the scoop on bbPress. I suspect that will be the preferable way to go, since it’s by the same people who make WordPress.
–Rick
I agree with Rick on the subdomains. Too bad you already registered the others.
Rick, the user list at the forum shows the two “Rick” users, both unactivated, but with all your profile info there.
Oops, sorry. I must have been typing at the same time as you. Didn’t see your comment that you already checked your spam filter.
That sounds reasonable.
Part of the reason I did that was I was unsure if 3 seperate subdomains could be spread across 3 separate physical machines (as the blog, website, and forum are sort of now).
If after a year it turns out there is no advantage to retaining the 2 extra names, I’ll let the names expire.
Salvador
Well Gentlemen,
I attempted again today to register at the discussion site (rtoews), using a different email address. I never received an email confirmation and password, so I remain unable, for the time, to interact over there.
Meanwhile, I’m working on the appearance of the blog site.
My email address, in case you wish to contact me directly on this, is rtoews at toewsweb dot net.
Rick,
The problem you have is truly mysterious and one I hope other members do not have.
I set up a yahoo.com account, and used that to get into the discussion board. If that works for you, then I can suggest it to other members.
Salvador
Check out the work-in-progress new forum:

More detail about it here:

I’d like to suggest that in the information bar beneath the forum topic and blurb that the date of the latest post be added to the number of posts. That way folks can see if recent comments have been made.
Best Regards
benkeshet,
Thank you for your feedback. A good place to put this suggestion is in the current active forum. If we forget, please remind us.
God bless,
Salvador
